Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday strongly condemned attack on the United Arab Emirates' port city of Fujairah, calling the targeting of civilians and infrastructure 'unacceptable' — his first public statement after three Indian nationals were injured in the strike that set off a major fire at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone.
"Strongly condemn the attacks on the UAE that resulted in injuries to three Indian nationals. Targeting civilians and infrastructure is unacceptable. India stands in firm solidarity with the UAE and reiterates its support for the peaceful resolution of all issues through dialogue and diplomacy," said PM Modi in a post on X.
He further added, "Ensuring safe and unimpeded navigation through the Strait of Hormuz is vital for enduring regional peace, stability and global energy security."
PM Modi's statement came hours after the Ministry of External Affairs had already issued an official condemnation, calling the Fujairah attack "unacceptable" and demanding an immediate cessation of hostilities.

The Fujairah attack was part of a broader Iranian barrage on Monday that saw UAE air defences engage 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles, and four drones. India's Embassy in Abu Dhabi confirmed the three injured were Indian nationals and said it was coordinating with local authorities for their medical care and welfare.
India is among the world's largest importers of Gulf energy, with a significant portion of its oil and gas imports transiting through the waterway, which has been largely blockaded since Iran announced its closure in March.
