Mumbai, Thane and Nashik are expected to receive light rain as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a district-wise weather warning for Maharashtra, signalling a wet spell across parts of the state over the coming days.
The alert, issued on April 6, 2026, shows that while several districts will remain dry, showers and thundershowers are likely in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and select other regions.

Light Rain warning across Mumbai, Palghar & Thane
According to the forecast, light rain is likely in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar on April 6, with similar weather conditions expected in Dhule, Nandurbar, Nashik and the ghats of Nashik. These areas may see light rain initially, followed by thundershowers on April 7.
The IMD bulletin suggests that the spell will remain localised rather than widespread, but residents in the affected districts should be prepared for sudden weather changes.
Western Maharashtra is also likely to witness unstable weather later in the week. Kolhapur and the ghats of Kolhapur may receive light rain and thundershowers towards the end of the forecast period, while Sangli is expected to see light rain on April 9 and light to moderate rain with thundershowers on April 10.
In central and southern parts of the state, many districts, including Pune, Satara, Ahilyanagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Washim and Yavatmal, are expected to remain largely dry.

Thunderstorms in Nagpur
The IMD has also warned that parts of Bhandara, Gondia and Nagpur may experience thunderstorms with lightning, moderate rain and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph. Chandrapur, Gadchiroli and Wardha could also see thunderstorms with lightning, light to moderate rain and winds of 30-40 kmph at isolated places.
Alerts for fisherman
With rain expected in Mumbai, Thane and Nashik, thunderstorms in parts of Vidarbha and western Maharashtra, and no specific warnings for fishermen, residents are being urged to remain cautious and follow official weather updates.
