LPG Crisis: Man Steals Cylinder From Bengaluru's Residential Area — Watch

Local authorities have advised residents in Bengaluru to keep LPG cylinders secured inside their homes and to inform the police if they notice any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods.

Amid the ongoing LPG shortage crisis across various parts of the country, incidents of LPG cylinder theft have been reported in Bengaluru.

According to Deccan Herald, two cases of LPG cylinders being stolen from residential areas have come to light in Bengaluru.  A video shared by Press Trust of India (PTI) on its X handle shows one of the incidents.

The footage captures a man arriving on a two-wheeler in a residential locality and leaving with a cylinder that had been wrapped in a sack. The incident was reported from the Kalyan Nagar area of Bengaluru.

Another case was reported in Channapatna, where CCTV footage showed two individuals arriving on a scooter and taking away an LPG cylinder that had been kept outside a house.

The newspaper reported that police have not made any arrests in connection with the incidents so far and investigations are currently underway.

Meanwhile, local authorities have advised residents in Bengaluru to keep LPG cylinders secured inside their homes and to inform the police if they notice any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods. Similar incidents have also been reported from other parts of the country. 

In Tamil Nadu, a cylinder theft was reported on Mengles Road.

PTI reported that a gas agency worker delivering cylinders on a tricycle had parked the vehicle for a short time to hand over a cylinder to a nearby house. When he returned a few minutes later, he found that one of the cylinders loaded on the tricycle had been stolen.

In Uttar Pradesh, police recovered around 500 LPG cylinders that had been stolen during the Holi festivities in Jhansi. Authorities said the cylinders had been taken during the festival period and were later traced and recovered by the police.

Another case was reported from Thiruvanthapuram's Chalai, where a filled LPG cylinder was stolen from a small hotel in the early hours of Friday. 

According to a report by The New Indian Express, the cylinder was taken from V S Hotel at around 2 a.m., according to the hotel's owner, Archana. CCTV footage showed a man entering the premises and leaving with the cylinder.
