The number of active Covid-19 cases in India fell for the fifth straight day, and fresh infections remained under the 20,000 mark.
The country reported 19,406 new infections and 49 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to an update from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at 10:00 am on Aug. 6.
Total confirmed cases: 4,41,27,024
Active cases: 1,34,793
Cured/discharged/migrated: 4,34,65,552
Deaths: 5,26,649
One-day recoveries stood at 19,928 with a recovery rate of 98.5%. While the daily positivity rate rested at 4.96%, one-day deaths decreased to 49 from 70.
Most of the states throughout the nation have made masking optional.
