10% of total intake seats
As stated in the official notification, individuals who do not hold Indian citizenship, whether by birth or naturalization, are categorized as foreign nationals. These individuals compete for extra seats that are capped at a maximum of 10% of the total intake for each stream. It is noteworthy that these seats are outside the scope of the reservation policies outlined by the Constitution of India, thus encompassing GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD, among others.
The absence of any subdivisions, particularly gender-based quotas in this pool, underscores the distinctiveness and merit-based nature of this admission pathway. Regarding OCI/PIO candidates, this classification hinges on a critical date point, all those who received their cards before March 4, 2021, are afforded the choice to be recognized either as foreigners or to be assessed alongside the Indian applicants.
