As the West Asia crisis deepens, its ripple effects are visible in disrupted travels, market volatility and growing anxiety among Indians living in the region. In this atmosphere, reactions are beginning to emerge from unexpected quarters — including India's entertainment industry.

Artists across languages and formats are responding in their own ways, but with a common emotional thread: empathy for civilians and concern for those caught in the uncertainty.

One of the most widely discussed reactions came from veteran lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar. In a strongly worded post on X, he wrote, “I think this time Trump and Israel have over played there hand because if they are allowed to get away with this audacity and do an Iraq to Iran China will lose her total credibility in the world. Netanyahu and Trump like all the bullies have pushed others to the wall and ultimately left no choice to others but to react in a decisive manner.”

His remark triggered intense debate online.

Malayalam superstar Mammootty, however, struck a philosophical and deeply human note while speaking at a public event. Drawing a parallel with cinema and conflict, he said, “There have been debates, arguments and even wars in cinema as well. Sometimes some people win, and sometimes both sides lose. Even now, a war is going on. I don't know who will win, but I wish humanity wins.”

His brief statement quickly resonated across social media for its restraint and moral clarity.

Actor-politician Khushbu Sundar issued one of the most emotional appeals, calling for urgent evacuation of Indians in the affected region. She wrote, “My heart is heavy watching the devastating escalation in the Middle East… every report of sirens, airport shutdowns, and grounded flights… brings deep concern for innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.”

Urging swift action, she added, “I earnestly appeal to the Government of India… to ensure the safety and evacuation of every Indian stranded… At this critical hour, humanity must rise above conflict. May peace prevail.”

Actor R. Madhavan took a different route, using his social media platform to spotlight a practical relief measure in the UAE. He shared details of an initiative by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism directing hotels to provide free stay extensions for stranded passengers, easing their financial burden during the travel disruption.

Currently in the US with his family and safe, Madhavan focused on this people-centric response, offering reassurance and shifting attention to a solution-driven development amid the anxiety.

A different kind of response came from Kangana Ranaut, who shifted the focus to India's global standing. In her social media post, she praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for strengthening the country's position and making India “safe, powerful and self-reliant” during a volatile international moment.

Together, these reactions to the Iran-US war have arisen from the known voices that sound less like celebrities and more like any concerned citizens. Beyond industries, beyond languages and opinions, today India's entertainment industry has largely chosen to speak in one united language - the language of humanity.
