15 flights diverted as heavy rains lash Delhi-NCR

Severe weather, heavy rain and thunderstorms in Delhi led to multiple flight disruptions at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Monday, resulting in numerous flight go-arounds and diversions to nearby airports like Jaipur (JAI), Chandigarh (IXC) and Lucknow (LKO). 

12 flights have been diverted from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport to Jaipur International Airport. The affected flights include IndiGo, Air India, Air India Express, and SpiceJet services.

The reported diversions to Jaipur include: 

  1. 6E 404 — IndiGo
  2. IX 1462 — Air India Express
  3. IX 1047 — Air India Express
  4. AI 4308 — Air India
  5. AI 2526 — Air India
  6. IX 1236 — Air India Express
  7. IX 136 — Air India Express
  8. SG 126 — SpiceJet
  9. AI 1814 — Air India
  10. 6E 6125 — IndiGo
  11. 6E 2102 — IndiGo
  12. AI 2381 — Air India

Two flights were also diverted to Chandigarh and one flight to Lucknow.

Numerous departures and arrivals faced compounding schedule delays. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) flagged heavy spells of rain accompanied by gusty winds across the Delhi-NCR region. Waterlogging and slow traffic movement were reported on approaches leading to the airport.
