Veer Soren, the grandson of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, died following a sudden illness while on a trip to Manali in Himachal Pradesh.
Veer, the son of Babu Lal Soren, was in his twenties.
"With profound sorrow, we inform you that our beloved grandson Veer Sorin passed away untimely on 24 February 2026," Champai Soren said in a post on X.
The former CM further added, "After his health suddenly deteriorated in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, he was rushed to the hospital, but fate had other plans. With Veer's departure, our family has been shattered."
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that he was deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden demise of Veer Soren.
"May the departed soul rest in eternal peace at the feet of Marang Buru, and may the grieving family be granted the strength to bear this unbearable sorrow. In this hour of profound grief, we stand with them.”
Quoting Police, The Indian Express reported that the incident came to light after Veer Soren was brought dead to the Civil Hospital in Manali, following which a police team reached the hospital and began preliminary inquiries.
Police said that Veer Soren had reached Manali with a group of friends on February 22 and was staying at a homestay in Simsa area.
On Monday, a day before his death, the group travelled to Sethan and Hamta Pass, a high-altitude location, before returning to their accommodation in the evening.
