Euro-Area Gauges Suggest Growth of Only 0.1% Last Quarter

Business surveys in the euro area have taken on a new-found importance as the region’s economic malaise continues. Bloomberg Economics’ most recent contemporaneous indicators suggest growth of 0.1% in the third quarter. Early data suggest that the weakness persisted into the final three months of the year, adding downside risk to the ECB’s expectation for a slight rebound.
