India's Wholesale Inflation At Six-Month Low Of 2.05% In March

India's wholesale price inflation was at 2.05% in March and 2.38% in February, data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry showed on Tuesday.

While wholesale inflation in primary articles declined, led by easing food article inflation, the month continued to witness an increase in prices of manufactured products.

  • Inflation in manufactured products—the largest component of the index—rose by 3.07% versus 2.86%.

  • Primary articles inflation at 0.76% versus 2.81%.

  • Inflation in food articles—a sub-component of primary articles— rose 1.57% compared to a rise of 3.38%.

  • Fuel and power inflation at 0.2% versus -0.71%.

  • Vegetables: -15.88% in March vs -5.80% in February; potatoes: -6.77% vs 27.54%; onions: 26.65% vs 48.05%.
