Ownly is positioning its zero-commission model as an alternative to established players such as Swiggy and Zomato.

Instead of charging restaurants a commission on each order, the platform operates on a subscription-based model aimed at lowering the cost burden for restaurants.

The company had earlier said it had onboarded around 25,000 restaurants in Bengaluru and was targeting 50,000, potentially giving it access to nearly half of the city's restaurant base.

Ownly sees lower ticket sizes as a way to make online food ordering more affordable and attract consumers who do not order frequently through existing platforms.

The upcoming expansion will test whether Ownly can replicate its Bengaluru momentum while building adequate restaurant density, delivery capacity and consumer demand in new cities.
