A new leak from case maker Spigen shows the design of the upcoming iPhone SE 4 and it looks unerringly like the iPhone 14.

Apple is finally upgrading its budget-friendly iPhone SE and giving it a modern makeover and perhaps even a name change. The upcoming iPhone SE 4 is expected to shake off its old-school (minimalist) design and adopt the iPhone 14 flavour along with some fancy new features. This means the upcoming smartphone may pack a bigger 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID and 5G support - big upgrades for the SE series.

A Modern Look With Some Tweaks

Leaks, including one from case maker Spigen, suggest that the thick bezels and home button that have graced previous SE models will be gone from the new model. Thinner bezels and a notch will be included in the SE 4, just as in the iPhone 14, rather than relying on a standard design. But unlike the iPhone 14’s dual camera system, the SE 4 is expected to have a single 48MP rear camera but remains a massive improvement over its predecessor. A two-camera system would in any case make it too much like the iPhone 16 and it could cannibalise sales of the premium model.

The most noticeable change? The home button is likely gone. Due to the SE 4 moving Apple towards Face ID, the SE 4 feels more in line with the rest of the current lineup.

Better Performance, New Features

The SE 4 is also rumoured to come powered by Apple’s A18 Bionic chip, which would make this one of the most powerful budget iPhones ever. So it could be faster, more efficient, and last longer. The phone is also said to include 8GB of RAM, as well as a USB-C port for the first time in the SE series, instead of the series' usual Lightning port.

Launch And Price

Perhaps Apple won't even have a big event for this release. Instead, we are hearing about a YouTube announcement around Feb. 11, 2025, and a press release. The pricing details have not been confirmed yet, but are estimated to start just under $500 (around Rs 49000 in India), slightly higher than the previous iPhone, but still affordable for one.

If you don’t want to spend big bucks for a flagship model, the SE 4 could be just the iPhone for those who want modern features — but don’t want to shell out a massive amount. But do remember, you need to analyse what your requirements are and then decide if the iPhone SE 4 suits you..
