Dabur India Ltd, one of the leading FMCG companies in India, is also a world leader in Ayurveda with a portfolio of over 250 herbal and ayurvedic products. It operates in key consumer products categories like hair care, oral care, health care, skin care, home care and foods.
The new CEO Mr. Malhotra in Q2FY20, had intuited the need to get back to grow the core healthcare segment, which contributes approximately 30% of sales. The goal is to appeal to the millennial, increase accessibility and drive penetration through sampling and innovation.
Given the current pandemic, Ayurvedic products are witnessing strong traction (expect revenues at 35% of sales in FY21), which is positive for Dabur as the segment is more profitable than the rest of the portfolio. In its home and personal care portfolio where penetration is very high, the aim is to take market share from peers and plug gaps in terms of portfolio/ geography. Further the sales from new launches are targeted to reach approximately 5% of total sales in 2 years (from 2% in FY20).
