End Of Day 1

The first day of 2022 IPL Mega Auction ended after over Rs 388 crore were collectively spent on 74 players.

The auction will resume on Feb. 13 at 12 noon.

Uncapped Spinners Picked, Bag Much

Noor Ahmad was bought by Gujarat Titans and KC Cariappa to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 30 lakh each.

Murugan Ashwin was sold to Mumbai Indians for Rs 1.6 crore. Shreyas Gopal and Jagadeesha Suchith were sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 75 lakh and Rs 20 lakh respectively.

Uncapped Pacers Interest Many Teams, Go Big

Avesh Khan invited several bids from MI, LSG, DC and SRH but was eventually sold to Lucknow Super Giants.

Bagging Rs 10 crore, Avesh Khan is now the highest paid uncapped player in IPL history.

Basil Thampi was sold to Mumbai Indians for Rs 30 lakh and Kartik Tyagi to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 4 crore.

While Akash Deep will join RCB this year, KM Asif will join CSK for Rs 20 lakh each.

Uncapped Wicket Keepers Bag Crores

Wicket-keepers like Kona Srikar Bharat and Anuj Rawat were bought for Rs 2 crore and Rs 3.40 crore respectively.

While KS Bharat was bought by Delhi Capitals, Anuj Rawat will join Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Prabhsimran Singh and Sheldon Jackson, both sold for Rs 60 lakh each, will join Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders respectively. Jitesh Sharma was bought by Punjab Kings.

On the other hand, young wicket-keepers like Mohammed Azharuddeen, Vishnu Vinod, Vishnu Solanki, N Jagadeesan went unsold.

Harpreet Kaur Goes To Punjab Kings; Shahbaz Ahmed To RCB

Harpreet Kaur was sold to Punjab Kings for Rs 3.80 crore and Shahbaz Ahmed to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 2.40 crore.

Both players were sold after witnessing long bidding wars.

Shahrukh Khan, Tewatia Bag Rs 9 Crore; Mavi Sold For Rs 7.25 Crore

Shahrukh Khan, former Punjab Kings player was bought back by the franchise for Rs 9 crore. Rahul Tewatia too, bagged Rs 9 crore and was sold to Gujarat Titans.

Another youngster, Shivam Mavi was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for a price of Rs 7.25 crore. His base price was set at Rs 40 lakh.

21-Year-Old Abhishek Bags Rs 6.50 Crore; 20-Year Parag Rs 3.80 Crore

Uncapped all-rounder Abhishek Sharma bagged Rs 6.50 crore after setting a base price of Rs 20 lakh. The 21-year-old invited bids from several teams until finally being sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Former Rajasthan Royals' all-rounder Riyan Parag bagged Rs 3.8 crore after having a lean base price of Rs 30 lakh.

He was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 20 lakh in 2021.

Parag will return to RR for the 2022 edition of the IPL after the team won the bidding war with CSK and Gujarat Titans.

Uncapped Players Go Big 

Rahul Tripathi, who had a meagre base price of Rs 40 lakh, was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 8.5 crore.

Other uncapped player like South African batsman Dewald Brevis, was sold to Mumbai Indians for Rs 3 crore. Abhinav Sadarangani, on the other hand, will join Gujarat Titans after being auctioned for Rs 2.6 crore.

While Priyam Garg and Ashwin Hebbar were sold for Rs 20 lakh each, former Mumbai Indians player Anmolpreet Singh went unsold.

Other players like C Hari Nishaanth and Rajat Patidar went unsold on day one too.

Rahul Chahar Sold For Rs 5.25 Crore; Chahal For Rs 6.5 Crore

Former Mumbai Indians' star-spinner, Rahul Chahar invited several bids from Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals.

R. Chahar was eventually sold to Punjab Kings for Rs 5.25 crore after a long bidding war. R. Chahar's base price was set at Rs 75 lakh.

Yuzvendra Chahal, another famed Indian leg-spinner and a favourite, was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 6.5 crore.

Tahir, Adil Rashid, Zampa Go Unsold; Kuldeep Joins DC

South African spinner Imran Tahir, English spinner Adil Rashid and Aussie spinner Adam Zampa went unsold on day one of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

Indian spinner, Kuldeep Yadav, was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 2 crore.

Shardul Thakur Bags Rs 10.75 Crore To Join DC

Indian pacer Shardul Thakur is yet another Indian player today to bag more than Rs 10 crore.

Thakur, a former CSK player, was sold for Rs 10.75 crore to Delhi Capitals.

Delhi Capitals also bought Bangladeshi-pacer Mustafizur Rahman for Rs 2 crore.

Mark Wood Sold For Rs 7.5 Crore; Bhuvneshwar Returns To SRH

English all-rounder, Mark Wood, who is yet to play a full season of the Indian Premier League, was sold to Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 7.5 crore. Wood played shortly for CSK in 2018.

Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar returned to Sunrisers Hyderabad, but with a pay-cut as he was paid over Rs 8 crore in IPL 2021.

Kumar was bought for Rs 4.2 crore by SRH on Saturday.

Ferguson To Join Gujarat; Hazelwood To Join RCB

Kiwi all-rounder Lockie Ferguson was bought by Gujarat Titans for Rs 10 crore.

Aussie all-rounder Josh Hazelwood, on the other hand, was sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 7.75 crore after an intense bidding war with Mumbai Indians.

Natarajan Sold To SRH; Prasidh Krishna To RR

T Natarajan was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 4 crore.

Prasidh Krishna having a base price of only Rs 1 crore, was sold for Rs 10 crore to Rajasthan Royals.

Krishna, in 2021, was sold for a lean amount of Rs 20 lakh to KKR.

Deepak Chahar Returns To CSK For Rs 14 Crore

Deepak Chahar will return to Chennai Super Kings for Rs 14 crore after having a base price of only Rs 2 crore.

D. Chahar became the sixth player to be auctioned for more than Rs 10 crore today.

He was sold for a meagre sum of Rs 80 lakh in 2021 to CSK.

Nicholas Pooran Sold To SRH For Rs 10.75 Crore

West Indies' all-rounder and former Punjab Kings player was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 10.75 crore.

Pooran's base price was set at Rs 1.50 crore. In 2021, Pooran was sold to Punjab Kings for Rs 4.20 crore.

Pooran is the fifth player today to be auctioned for more than Rs 10 crore.

Jonny Bairstow Sold To Punjab Kings, Dinesh Karthik To Join RCB

English wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow was sold to Punjab Kings for Rs 6.75 crore.

On the other hand, Indian wicket-keeper and batsman Dinesh Karthik, former Kolkata Knight Riders player was sold for Rs 5.50 crore to RCB.

Indian Young'Star' Kishan Re-Joins Mumbai For Rs 15.25 Crore

Mumbai Indians' star-player from 2021 IPL was bought back by the team for a whopping Rs 15.25 crore after a much-awaited bidding war.

The bidding war was fought between Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings. Kishan was Mumbai Indians' first bought player today.

Kishan is also the highest paid player so far today.

Matthew Wade, Nabi Go Unsold; Rayudu To Re-Join CSK

Australian wicket-keeper and batsman Matthew Wade went unsold on Saturday, the first day of the 2022 IPL Mega Auction.

Mohammed Nabi, an all-rounder from Afghanistan was also unable to invite bids today.

Ambati Rayudu, on the other hand, will re-join Chennai Super Kings after being sold for Rs 6.75 crore.

Aussie All-Rounder Mitchell Marsh To Join Delhi Capitals

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was sold to Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.50 crore.

Marsh previously played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2021 but was ruled out due to an ankle injury.

Marsh was awarded the 'Player Of The Match' award at the 2021 T20 World Cup Final.

Krunal Pandya Sold For Rs 8.25 Crore, Sundar For Rs 8.75 Crore

Former Mumbai Indians' all-rounder Krunal Pandya will join Lucknow Super Giants after the new team won the bidding war by paying Rs 8.25 crore for the player.

Indian right-arm off-spinner Washington Sundar was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 8.75 crore. He was SRH's first buy in the auction today.

The Indian youngster previously played for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Wanindu Hasaranga Sold To RCB For Rs 10.75 Crore

Sri Lankan leg-break bowler was bought by RCB for a whopping Rs 10.75 crore after the longest bidding war so far.

His base price was set at Rs 1 crore at the start of the auction.

Hasaranga is now the third player after Shreyas Iyer and Harshal Patel to be bid for more than Rs 10 crore.

IPL Mega Auction Halts For Early Lunch

The 2022 IPL Mega Auction was halted for an 'early lunch' according to Star Sports Network.

The bidding of Wanindu Hasaranga will resume after the lunch break at 3:30 p.m., Star Sports Network also said.

The break was declared after auctioneer Hugh Edmeades took ill.

Deepak Hooda Sold To Lucknow For Rs 5.75 Crore

Indian batsman and power-hitter Deepak Hooda was sold to Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 5.75 crore. His base price was Rs 75 lakh.

Harshal Patel Goes Back To RCB For Rs 10.75 Crore

Royal Challengers Bangalore's star bowler and Purple Cap winner in IPL 2021 went back to RCB after an intense bidding war between RCB and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Patel was sold for Rs 10.75 crore becoming only the second player so far to be bid for more than Rs 10 crore.

Bangladesh Captain Al-Hasan Goes Unsold

Bangladesh captain and former Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder went unsold on day 1 of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. His base price was set at Rs 2 crore.

Nitish Rana Goes Back To KKR; Holder To Join Lucknow

Indian batsman Nitish Rana was bought back by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 8 crore after inviting big bids by several bidders. With this buy, the franchise has only Rs 20.50 crore left in their purse.

West Indies' all-rounder Jason Holder was sold to Lucknow Super Giants after a bidding war between three teams. Holder was bought by Lucknow for Rs 8.75 crore.

Dwayne Bravo Will Continue To Play For CSK

Chennai Super Kings' all-rounder Dwayne Bravo will continue to play for the team after being sold for Rs 4.40 crore.

Suresh Raina, Steve Smith Go Unsold On Day One

Indian batsman and former Chennai Super Kings player Suresh Raina went unsold on day one of the 2022 IPL Mega Auction.

Australian batsman and former Royals' player Steve Smith also invited no bids.

Both players had their base prices set at Rs 2 crore.

Indian rising star Devdutt Padikkal was sold to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 7.75 crore.

David Miller was the first player to go unsold on the first day of the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions. Miller, a South-African batsman, played for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021.

English batsman Jason Roy was sold to Gujarat Titans for Rs 2 crore.

Indian batsman Robin Uthappa returned to CSK after being sold for Rs 2 crore.

Former Sunrisers Hyderabad power batter Manish Pandey was sold to Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 4.6 crore. His base price was Rs 1 crore.

West Indies' power hitter Shimron Hetmyer was auctioned for Rs 8.50 crore after a bidding war between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals.

10 Players Sold So Far, A Bunch To Go

10 players were sold so far in the first leg of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Out of the first 10, emerging Indian star Shreyas Iyer was sold to KKR for a whopping Rs 12.25 crore.

While Aussie captain Cummins received a massive pay-cut in comparison with the bid in 2020, he however, will return to Kolkata for the 15th edition of the IPL.

Until now, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad haven't bought any players.

He was sold for Rs 7.25 crore to KKR on the first day of the 2022 IPL Mega Auctions.

Shikhar Dhawan To Join Punjab; Ashwin To Play For Royals

Shikhar Dhawan, the first player to get auctioned at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction was sold to Punjab Kings for Rs 8.25 crore after a bidding war between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals.

Former Delhi Capitals' player and famed Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was sold to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 5 crore.

Punjab Kings, KKR, RCB On Captain Hunt

While two of Indian Premier League's most successful teams- Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings will look to build teams and aim for yet another title, three teams will be on the hunt to find a captain.

Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders will have to look for a captain after having released KL Rahul and Eoin Morgan respectively in November last year.

On the other hand, although Royal Challengers Bangalore retained former captain Virat Kohli, they'd still have look for another, as Kohli relinquished his captaincy during IPL 2021.

New teams- Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants will be headed by Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul respectively.

All You Need To Know About The Mega 2022 Auction

Indian Premier League's two-day auction of players begins on Saturday with 590 players going under the hammer. Two new teams will join the existing eight to vie for some of the biggest names in the world of cricket.

  • The mega auction will be held on Feb. 12 and Feb. 13 in Bengaluru.

  • Telecast on Star Sports Network starting 11 a.m.

  • Two new teams, Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans, will participate this year

  • 590 players will go under the hammer—370 Indian and 220 foreign.

  • IPL 2022 will be the 15th edition of the T20 cricket league.

  • The Tata Group has replaced Chinese mobile manufacturer Vivo as the title sponsor.

Each team can pick a squad of 25, with the number of overseas players capped at eight.

While eight IPL teams retained two to four four players on Nov. 30, 2021, Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans chose their captains and two other players each.

As of now, Punjab Kings have the highest amount left in their purse. Delhi Capitals has the least Rs 47.5 crore to bid for players.
