All scheduled and non-scheduled banks will observe public holidays on second and fourth Saturdays, the RBI said.  Banks will remain closed on all Sundays of the month.

Except for March 22, all other holidays will fall on weekdays, providing multiple days off.

The RBI has announced these holidays based on the Holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act of 1881, which applies to public institutions but not private companies. Governments also use this law to announce public holidays in case of sudden events (like the deaths of important personalities).
