Vistara Cuts Fares By 25%, Jet Airways Extends Offer

Airlines come up with various discount schemes offering lower airfares around the monsoon season, which is typically considered a period of lean demand.

Full-service airline Vistara has announced a flat 25 per cent discount on fares for travel between July and September. Meanwhile, another carrier Jet Airways has extended its 20 per cent discount offer on base fares.

Vistara, a joint venture between the Tata group and Singapore Airlines, said the bookings for this offer - applicable on travel between July 1 and September 30 - will be open till June 10.

The Jet Airways offer is applicable on economy class travel on domestic routes. The bookings for the Jet Airways offer will be open till June 8.

Vistara said it is offering fares starting from Rs 1,099 in economy class, Rs 2,284 in premium economy and Rs 5,775 in business class.

Under the scheme, Vistara said, economy class air tickets on the Delhi-Mumbai route are priced at Rs 1,920 as compared to the regular fare of 2,743. Economy class tickets on the Delhi-Bangalore route are available for Rs 2,165, as against the regular fare of Rs 3,093.

Vistara's promotional offer is available on all channels, including tickets booked on its website and apps, the airline said.

Customers booking through the Vistara website and apps will get an additional discount of 5 per cent, the carrier added.

Typically, the monsoon season is a lean period for airlines which come up with discount offers to lure flyers.

Vistara has not disclosed the number of seats it has put on offer under the scheme.
