End Of IPL 2022 Mega Auction

The 2022 IPL Mega Auction concluded at 9.05 p.m. on Sunday.

A total sum of over Rs 551 crore was spent collectively by 10 teams over the two-day auction.

204 players were sold to 10 different teams with 67 of them being overseas players.

Ishan Kishan stayed the most expensive player bought in the two-day auction after being bid for from several teams and finally being sold to Mumbai Indians for a whopping Rs 15.25 crore.

Final 23 Players To Go Under Hammer For The Last Time

Here are all the players who were sold in the final leg of the auction:

  • David Willey sold to RCB for Rs 2 crore

  • Fabian Allen sold to MI for Rs 75 lakh

  • Luvnith Sisodia sold to RCB for Rs 20 lakh

  • Aryan Juyal sold to Mumbai Indians for Rs 20 lakh

  • Siddharth Kaul sold to RCB for Rs 75 lakh

  • Daryl Mitchell sold to RR for Rs 75 lakh

  • Rassie Van Der Dussen sold to RR for Rs 1 crore

Chennai, Punjab Add 25 Players, Lucknow Exhausts Purse

Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings will be unable to bid for any more players despite having Rs 2.95 crore and Rs 3.45 crore in their purses respectively. Both teams have reached the 25-player limit.

Lucknow on the other hand, has a squad of 21 players in total and will be unable to bid for more players. The franchise has exhausted the cash in their purse.

While other teams might continue to bid for comparatively low-priced players, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals might bid for more players. The two teams have only 19 and 20 players in their squads.

Hugh Edmeades Concludes Auction 

Hugh Edmeades, who took ill and collapsed yesterday on live tv, returned to conclude the 2022 IPL Mega Auction all fit and healthy.

Edmeades asked teams to submit two names each for a final re-auction at the 2022 IPL Mega Auction.

  • Hrithik Shokeen was sold to Mumbai Indians for Rs 20 lakh

Here are the young players who were given a second chance of finding bids in the accelerated auction:

  • Varun Aaron sold to Gujarat Titans for Rs 50 lakh

Unsold Players To Get Second Chance In Accelerated Auction

Unsold players will now receive a second chance in the last leg of the accelerated auction. Big names like Suresh Raina, Steve Smith might get picked by teams close to their base prices if not much more.

Teams were requested to send a list of players that teams wish to appear again in the last leg of the accelerated auction, auctioneer Charu Sharma told franchises.

IPL teams are now in a speed-buying mode after bidding for several players back-to-back in the accelerated auction.

On the other hand, players like Siddharth Kaul, Rahmanullah Gurbaz- an Afghan wicket-keeper, Andrew Tye, Tanmay Agarwal, Sandeep Warrier, Sameer Rizvi, Tom Kohler-Cadmore went unsold.

The accelerated auction kickstarted after Royal Challengers Bangalore bought Kiwi player Finn Allen for Rs 80 lakh.

Players like Alex Hales, Evin Lewis, Karun Nair, Rassie van der Dussen, Charith Asalanka, George Garton went unsold.

  • Kiwi spinner Mitchell Santner bought by CSK for Rs 1.9 crore

  • Daniel Sams sold to Mumbai Indians Rs 2.6 crore

  • Sherfane Rutherford sold to RCB for Rs 1 crore

  • Rishi Dhawan sold to Punjab Kings for Rs 55 lakh

  • Jofra Archer, although unavailable to play in the 15th edition of the IPL, was sold for a whopping Rs 8 crore to Mumbai Indians

Uncapped Bowler Yash Dayal Sold To Gujarat Titans For Rs 3.2 Crore

Yash Dayal was sold to Gujarat Titans for Rs 3.2 crore. His base price was set at Rs 20 lakh.

Simarjeet Singh, on the other hand, was bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 20 lakh.

Other uncapped bowlers like Yash Thakur, Vasu Vats, Arzan Nagwaswalla Mujtaba Yousuf, Kuldeep Sen and Akash Singh were unable to invite bids on Sunday.

U-19 World Cup Batter Hangargekar Sold For Rs 1.5 Crore

Power hitter Rajvardhan Hangargekar was sold to Chennai Super Kings for Rs 1.5 crore.

Hangargekar hit a hattrick of sixes at the U-19 World Cup recently.

U-19 World Cup Star Raj Angad Bawa Sold For Rs 2 Crore

U-19 world cup winner and young Indian Raj Angad Bawa was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 2 crore.

Bawa rose to fame a couple of weeks ago for his performance of taking 5 wickets and giving away only 31 runs at the U-19 World Cup Final against England.

His base price was set at Rs 20 lakh.

Uncapped All-Rounders Invite Bids 

Delhi Capitals bought all-rounders Lalit Yadav and Ripal Patel was sold for Rs 65 lakh and Rs 20 lakh respectively.

Capitals also bought U-19 Indian captain Yash Dhull for Rs 50 lakh.

On the other hand, young Indian Tilak Varma was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 1.70 crore after inviting several bids from Chennai Super Kings too. MI also bought Sanjay Yadav for Rs 50 lakh.

Mahipal Lomror was sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 95 lakh and former Mumbai Indians' star-fielder Anukul Roy was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 20 lakh.

Gujarat Titans also joined the bidding for the young players by buying Darshan Nalkande for Rs 20 lakh.

Six Uncapped Batsmen Fail To Invite Bids; Two Sold

Uncapped batsmen like Virat Singh, Himmat Singh, Sachin Baby, Harnoor Singh, Himanshu Rana and Ricky Bhui were unable to invite bids.

Rinku Singh on the other hand, was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 55 lakh. Manan Vohra was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for his base price of Rs 20 lakh.

Shamsi, Ahmed, Karn Sharma Unsold; Nadeem Sold For Rs 50 Lakh

South African bowler Tabraiz Shamsi and Afghanistan spinner Qais Ahmed found no takers on Sunday. Indian spinner Karn Sharma couldn't invite bids either.

Piyush Chawla, veteran Indian spinner went unsold too.

Shahbaz Nadeem, on the other hand, was sold to Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 50 lakh.

Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana was bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 70 lakh.

Mayank Markande To Return To Mumbai Indians

Indian youngster Mayank Markande will return to Mumbai Indians for Rs Rs 65 lakh.

The right-arm Leg Spin bowler had his base price set at Rs 50 lakh.

Mumbai Indians Buys Jaydev Unadkat For Rs 1.3 Crore; Coulter-Nile Unsold

Indian bowler Jaydev Unadkat was sold to Mumbai Indians for Rs 1.3 crore. He previously played for Rajasthan Royals.

On the other hand, former Mumbai Indians' player Nathan Coulter-Nile was unable to find any takers.

Sheldon Cottrell Goes Unsold

Former Jamaican soldier and West Indies all-rounder known for his ‘salute celebrations’, Sheldon Cottrell was unable to invite bids on Sunday.

Sandeep Sharma Sold To Punjab Kings; Saini To RR

Sandeep Sharma was bought at his base price of Rs 50 lakh by Punjab Kings.

Navdeep Saini on the other hand, bagged Rs 2.6 crore from Rajasthan Royals. Saini was Rajasthan Royals' first buy today.

Chetan Sakariya Sold To Delhi Capitals For Rs 4.2 Crore

After having a lean base price of Rs 50 lakh, young Indian fast bowler Chetan Sakariya was sold to Delhi Capitals for Rs 4.20 crore.

Sakariya rose to fame in IPL 2021 after his impressionable performances for Rajasthan Royals.

His best figures stand strong at 5 wickets and 11 runs in a single T20 match.

Chameera Joins Lucknow For Rs 2 Crore; Ngidi Unsold

Emerging Sri Lankan pacer Dushmantha Chameera was sold to Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 2 crore.

On the other hand, young South African pacer Lungisani Ngidi could not invite any bids on Sunday.

Ishant Sharma Unsold; Khaleel Ahmed Sold For Rs 5.25 Crore

Indian veteran bowler Ishant Sharma was unable to invite bids and went unsold. His base price was set at Rs 1.5 crore.

On the other hand, young Indian bowler Khaleel Ahmed was sold to Delhi Capitals for Rs 5.25 crore.

Shivam Dubey Sold To CSK For Rs 4 Crore; Gowtham To Lucknow

Indian all-rounder and winner of several 'Super-Striker' IPL awards, Shivam Dubey was sold to Chennai Super Kings after winning a bidding war against Punjab Kings.

Dubey was sold for Rs 4 crore. His base price was set at Rs 50 lakh.

Krishnappa Gowtham, on the other hand, was sold to Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 90 lakh.

Marco Jansen To Join Sunrisers For Rs 4.20 Crore

Young South African all-rounder Marco Jansen will join Sunrisers Hyderabad after being sold for Rs 4.20 crore. Jansen was sold following an intense bidding war between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians.

Odean Smith Sold To Punjab Kings Rs 6 Crore

West Indies' all-rounder will join Punjab Kings after being sold for Rs 6 crore.

Smith attracted bids from Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad owing to his batting and bowling performance against India in the second ODI played recently.

24-Year-Old Dominic Drakes To Gujarat Titans; Jimmy Neesham Unsold

West Indian all-rounder Dominic Drakes was bought by Gujarat Titans for Rs 1.1 crore.

His base price was Rs 75 lakh.

Kiwi all-rounder and former Mumbai Indians player James Neesham failed to invite bids.

England's Liam Livingstone Sold To Punjab For Rs 11.5 Crore

England's Liam Livingstone, a right-handed batsman and spinner, will play for Punjab Kings after Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans had a four-way bidding war for him.


His base price was Rs 1 crore.

Saurabh Tiwary, Aaron Finch, Cheteshwar Pujara Find No Takers

Batsman Saurabh Tiwary and Australia's Aaron Finch joined Marnus Labuschagne and England's Eoin Morgan in the unsold club, adding to a list of prominent players failing to find teams.

Test cricket veteran Cheteshwar Pujara, too, wasn't picked up.

Mandeep Singh To Delhi Capitals; Labuschagne, Morgan Unsold

Batsman Mandeep Singh was sold to Delhi Capitals for Rs 1.1 crore.

His base price was Rs 50 lakh.

Australia's Marnus Labuschagne and England's Eoin Morgan failed to find takers.

Ajinkya Rahane Sold To Kolkata Knight Riders, Dawid Malan Unsold

Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane was bought at the base price of Rs 1 crore by the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Aiden Markram To Play For Hyderabad

South African batsman Aiden Markram was bought for Rs 2.6 crore by Sunrises Hyderabad after a bidding war with Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings.

His base price was Rs 1 crore.

Day 2 Begins With IPL Auctioneer Hugh Edmeades' Message

Hugh Edmeades, the auctioneer who collapsed mid-event yesterday, sent a video message, assuring viewers and teams of his health and thanked Charu Sharma for carrying on the auction seamlessly.

Day 2 Of Auction To Start Shortly; All Eyes On Young Indians

While teams will now hunt for potential combinations to have attacking batting and bowling sides, young Indians might attract the most attention.

Young Indian players like Chetan Sakariya, Navdeep Saini and Shivam Dube might attract bids from several teams, owing to their performances in IPL 2021.

Overseas players like Eoin Morgan, Jofra Archer will also go under the hammer today.

Yesterday, big names like Suresh Raina, Steve Smith went unsold. Today, all those names will be given a second chance to invite bids, if any.

The second day of the Indian Premier League's two-day auction will begin at 12 noon.

While franchises look to create squads of up to 25 players each, they've been seen to have grown fond of young Indian talent.

All 10 teams were asked to submit a list of 20 players each for an accelerated auction. The names were asked to be submitted before 9 a.m. today.
