Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd. announced the appointment of Jagmohan as the company's chairman and managing director.
The development follows the orders conveyed by the Ministry of Defence vide their letter dated April 18, 2025.
The retired Indian Navy captain assumed the charge of the post on Monday and his tenure will last till the date of his superannuation—Sept. 30, 2029—or until further orders, whichever is earlier, according to the company's exchange filing.
As a result, Biju George, director of shipbuilding, ceases to hold the additional charge of CMD, the company’s disclosure added.
Jagmohan, who has served the Indian Navy for over 25 years, has held several important assignments in the Directorate of Naval Design and at Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.
Before joining Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, he was director of corporate planning and project and business development and held additional charge as director of operations at Goa Shipyard Ltd.
The newly appointed chairman has also worked as chief general manager of design at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. in Kolkata.
At Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers, Jagmohan oversaw execution and management of the design of various complex warship projects like the Advanced Stealth Frigate, P28 ASW Corvette, Survey Vessel, ASW Shallow Water Craft and Fast Patrol Vessels for the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard.
The Cochin University of Science & Technology naval architecture graduate's other degrees include an M. Tech in Naval Construction and Ocean Engineering from IIT Delhi and IIT Kharagpur, respectively.
Shares of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd. closed 1.99% higher at Rs 2,765.15 apiece on the BSE, compared to a 1.09% advance in the benchmark Sensex. However, the company's announcement on the new appointment happened after the stock markets had closed for Monday.
