Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas Top Legal Advisors for Deal-Making: Report

Mumbai: Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas has emerged as the top legal advisor in the country in terms of deal value, at $3.2 billion, during the first quarter of the year, says a report.

Mangaldas was followed by Vaish Associates, which handled transactions worth $2.46 billion during January-March, according to global deal tracking firm Mergermarket.

AZB & Partners ($2.07 billion), Latham and Watkins ($1.28 billion) and Linklaters ($1.28 billion) also figured on the list of top five legal firms in terms of deal value during the quarter.

Meanwhile, Khaitan & Co was listed at the top for handling the most number of deals (15) during the quarter. They managed deals worth $934 million for the period and were positioned at the eighth spot in terms of deal value.

AZB & Partners, with 10 deals, were ranked second, followed by Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (7), Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas (6), Trilegal (5).

As per Mergermarket data, the global merger and acquisition deal tally amounted to $597.4 billion in January-March, down 24 per cent from the corresponding period last year.
