Dubai Issues Weather Advisory, Asks People To Exercise Caution, Adhere To Traffic Rules

The office has also issued a list of fines that may be imposed in case of “risky behaviour” amid the unsettling weather

Dubai's Ministry of Interior issued an advisory on Monday, urging the general public to exercise caution in the wake of unstable weather in the UAE this week, with varying rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds.

The advisory was posted on the official X account of the Government of Dubai Media Office. “In view of the current weather conditions, the Ministry of Interior requests you to exercise caution, adhere to traffic rules, and stay away from water pools and fast-flowing rivers to prevent the vehicle from skidding,” the post read.

Gulf News reported that there will also be a noticeable drop in temperatures across several regions, as the weather department has predicted rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds.

Authorities, as per Gulf News, have advised the public to stay updated on current conditions and follow official safety guidelines. The authorities have stressed the importance of relying only on verified sources for weather to ensure safety during this period of “unsettled conditions”.

Meanwhile, Sharjah police have also called on drivers to exercise caution and vigilance and avoid areas where valleys and dams are flowing, to ensure safety. They have also taken some precautionary measures and closed certain routes for public transport, Gulf News reported. 

Sharjah City Municipality has also announced a temporary exemption from public parking fees, keeping in view the adverse weather conditions. This exemption covers all public parking spaces in Sharjah.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) in the UAE has called on private establishments across the various emirates of the country to enhance safety measures at work sites. 

“Necessary preventive measures should be taken to protect workers while performing their duties and during commuting to and from work sites,” the ministry's X handle posted. 

The post asserted that work safety was a priority, and compliance with occupational health and safety requirements is a shared responsibility that ensures business continuity in a safe environment.
