US President Donald Trump on Tuesday dialed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed the ongoing situation in the Middle East.
Both the leaders also discussed the Strait of Hormuz Blockade and agreed to stay in touch regarding efforts towards peace and stability.
"President Donald Trump just spoke with Prime Minister Modi. They discussed the ongoing situation in the Middle East, including the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open," said US Envoy Sergio Gor.
In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi said that he received a call from President Trump and they had a useful exchange of views on the situation in West Asia.
"India supports de-escalation and restoration of peace at the earliest. Ensuring that the Strait of Hormuz remains open, secure and accessible is essential for the whole world. We agreed to stay in touch regarding efforts towards peace and stability."

The Strait of Hormuz, the waterway that connects the Persian Gulf to the open ocean, has been shut down by the Iranian IRGC; and Trump has been asking several nations, including NATO allies to help US in opening the shipping route.
The call took place less than 24 hours after Trump announced a postponement of strikes on Iranian power plants for five days, after giving a 48-hour ultimatum to reopen Hormuz. He also claimed that the United States and Iran held productive conversations over hostilities in the Middle East.
The ongoing conflict in the Middle East, after US-Israel attacked Iran, has created a serious energy crisis globally.
On Monday, speaking in Lok Sabha, Modi said that attacks on commercial ships and disruptions in waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz are unacceptable and India is making continuous efforts to ensure the safe movement of Indian ships in this situation.

Whereas, in a statement in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, Modi said that India was making efforts through diplomacy to ensure ships reach safely amid war.
The Prime Minister informed that the government is trying to procure gas and crude oil from all available sources.
India's aim is de-escalation of the war and opening of the Strait of Hormuz, he said, adding the country's attempt is to encourage all sections to peacefully resolve all issues.
"India wants peace in West Asia through dialogue and diplomacy. We are in touch with Iran, Israel and the US; our aim is dialogue and diplomacy to ensure peace in the region; we have spoken to them about de-escalation, opening the Strait of Hormuz."
