Microsoft-backed OpenAI on Thursday said that its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ChatGPT will now be more accessible than ever. You can now use ChatGPT on your phone and chat with it through a dedicated mobile number or through WhatsApp.
In a post on microblogging platform X, OpenAI said users can now interact with ChatGPT by calling 1-800-ChatGPT (1-800-242-8478) or by sending a WhatsApp message on the same number.
Attaching a video tutorial along with the post, OpenAI said, “available everywhere ChatGPT is”.
The calling service is only available to users in the United States and Canada as of now, it added.

December 18, 2024The company further said that the ChatGPT calling service will be available to users for free for 15 minutes every day.
Advertisement"To start, people in the U.S. will get 15 minutes per month of voice calling. This is an experimental way to talk to ChatGPT, so availability and limits may change,” it said.
In a separate blog, the company noted that there will also be a daily limit on WhatsApp chats.
The service is available even on flip phones and landline numbers, where users can call the number and access benefits of ChatGPT, OpenAI said in its X post.
"For a fuller experience with access to more features like search, higher limits, and greater personalization, existing users should continue using ChatGPT directly through their accounts," it noted.
How To Use ChatGPT On WhatsApp And Call?
In its blog, OpenAI said users can now talk to ChatGPT via phone call or message ChatGPT via WhatsApp at 1-800-ChatGPT without needing an account.
AdvertisementYou can access the services by calling 1-800-CHATGPT, which is 1-800-242-8478, with a US or Canada phone number or by messaging 1-800-242-8478 on WhatsApp with a number from supported countries.
"WhatsApp messaging currently supports text conversations only. Features that require logging into a ChatGPT account, such as ChatGPT search, chatting with images, and personalization features like custom instructions and memory, are not currently available," said OpenAI.
WhatsApp group messaging feature is also not available for the same as of now, it added.
The news comes days after OpenAI announced "ship-mas", a 12-day release event that is set to accompany an array of new releases and features. Last week, the company announced the availability of Sora Turbo, an AI video generation tool.
