The Men in Green, who comprehensively defeated the tourists in the first game, now aim for an unassailable 2-0 lead. Pakistan hammered the understrength Aussie line-up by 22 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium in the opening game.
Led by Salman Ali Agha, Pakistan posted a good score of 168/8 in their 20 overs on a dry surface. Despite losing their key opener Sahibzada Farhan, for a duck, the hosts kept attacking with the bat. Talented youngster Saim Ayub played a knock of 40 off 22 deliveries, including 3 fours and 2 sixes. At the other end, skipper Agha's quickfire 39 off 27 balls also helped Pakistan's cause a lot.
Even as Australia recovered well with the ball post the powerplay field restriction phase, with wrist-spinner Adam Zampa taking 4 for 24, the visitors nearly conceded a score close to the 170-mark.
During the second half, Ayub showed his all-round capabilities as the part-time spinner picked up the crucial wickets of openers Matthew Short (5) and Travis Head (23). The spin duo of Abrar Ahmed (2/10) and Mohammad Nawaz (1/25) bowled superbly as well. For Australia, decent knocks from Cameron Green (36) and Xavier Bartlett (34*) went in vain as they eventually finished with just 146/8.
Australia may once again be led by Head if the team management decides to continue resting designated captain Mitchell Marsh.
