As the auction for the 2025 season of the Indian Premium League is set to begin shortly, here is the full list of players retained by each team earlier.

  • Chennai Super Kings: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Matheesha Pathirana, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni.

  • Delhi Capitals: Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs and  Abhishek Porel.

The IPL 2025 mega auction will be held on Nov. 24 and Nov. 25 at Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. The auction will start at 3:00 p.m. IST or 12:30 p.m. local time. 

The Indian Premier League 2025 auction will be live-streamed on the JioCinema app and website. The live broadcast will be available on the Star Sports Network in India, where fans can watch it on television.

After parting ways with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), KL Rahul is set to enter the IPL 2025 mega auction at a base price of Rs 2 crore. Known for his calm and composed demeanour on the field, Rahul can be an explosive hitter and a shoulder to fall back on during testing hours.

KL Rahul is India's fourth-highest run scorer in T20 matches, with 2,265 runs from 72 matches. In IPL 2024, Rahul led LSG in 14 matches, scoring 520 runs at a strike rate of 136.13.

Ahead of the auction, Rahul shared his eagerness to join Royal Challengers Bengaluru, in an interview with Star Sports. "It's kind of home and the people there know me as a local Kannada boy, and it would be nice to go back there and get an opportunity again,” he said.

After recovering from a life-threatening accident, Rishabh Pant captained Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, scoring 446 runs at a strike rate of 155.40.

In the recent Test series against New Zealand—which India lost 3-0—Pant was seen as the only stand-out performer in the final match with his 60-run knock of 59 balls. This was preceded by a 124-ball hundred in the Test match against Bangladesh in September.

The unique Right to Match provision is added to the bidding process for the IPL auction, giving former teams the opportunity to repurchase their former players at the auction's sale price. However, there is a small change this year.

If a team uses the RTM, the bid-winning team will be given the chance to make one final bid and raise their amount. If the player's old franchise choose to utilise the RTM on the final bid, then they will successfully buy back the player.

For this year's action, Punjab Kings has the four 'Right to Match' options followed by the three RTMs for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad have one RTM each.

Delhi Capitals have two RTMs while Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals have no RTM left to use.

SRH bought the Indian right-arm pacer, Mohammad Shami for Rs 10 crore, against a bidding battle between CSK and KKR. This was against a base price of Rs 2 crore. His former team GT did not use the RTM option to get him back.

Gujarat Titans clinched its first IPL title in its inaugural year with Shami playing an important role, picking up 20 wickets in 17 games.

This was followed by another top-notch 2023 season. In addition to bagging 28 wickets in 17 matches, he also won the purple cap of the season. However, he missed the 2024 edition of the tournament due to injury.

As a reliable middle order batter with a solid big-hitting ability, Maxwell is seen as an invaluable asset for any team.
