Gujarat Titans climbed to the top of the IPL 2026 points table with a dominant 82-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
Sai Sudharsan struck a composed 61 off 44 balls, while Washington Sundar added a fluent 50 off 33 deliveries to guide GT to 168/7 on a tricky two-paced surface. Despite early setbacks, the duo stitched together a crucial 60-run partnership to steady the innings.
SRH crumbled to just 86 in 14.5 overs as Gujarat's pace attack tore through the batting order. Kagiso Rabada starred with 3/28, removing Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and R Smaran, while Mohammed Siraj struck in the opening over to dismiss Travis Head with a wicket-maiden. Jason Holder then cleaned up the middle order with figures of 3/20, and Prasidh Krishna chipped in with two wickets.
Heinrich Klaasen managed 14, while skipper Pat Cummins top-scored for SRH with 19, but the visitors never recovered after slipping to 32/4 inside the powerplay. The comprehensive victory marked Gujarat's fifth straight win of the season.

Gujarat Titans playoff scenario
Gujarat Titans started the season slowly as they managed just three wins from first seven matches. However, the Shubman Gill-led side has picked up pace in the second half of the league phase as they have now stitched five wins in a row.
By topping the points tally with 16 points in 12 games, GT are almost through to the playoffs. GT face Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings in their final two games. A victory in either of these two matches will definitely confirm their presence in the playoffs.
According to Star Sports, GT have 94.9% chance of finishing in top-four
Sunrisers Hyderabad playoff scenario
Sunrisers Hyderabad have endured just two defeats in their last eight games. They are third with 14 points from 12 matches. To safely go through to the playoffs, they have to ensure that they win their next two games which are against Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. If that happens, they will end with 18 points in 14 games. However, SRH are facing stiff competition from the chasing lot of Punjab Kings, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals.
Star Sports' calculations say that SRH have 65.7% chance of making into the top-four and qualifying for the playoffs.
