A day before Gujarat Titans (GT) host Rajasthan Royals (RR) in match 8 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, a brief exchange between Jos Buttler and Vaibhav Suryavanshi has captured wider attention.

In a clip shared on RR's social media handles, the former Royals opener can be seen gushing over the 15-year-old and reiterating his admiration, calling him the “best player” he has watched and adding that the “world is at his feet.”

Here's a look at the heartwarming exchange that took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Buttler was on the opposing side when Suryavanshi produced one of the most explosive innings in IPL history last season, his 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans. That knock, where he scored 101 off 38 balls, made him the fastest Indian centurion in the league and the second-fastest overall.

Suryavanshi's rise since has been phenomenal. He debuted for Rajasthan Royals in April 2025 at just 14 years and 23 days, becoming the youngest player in IPL history.

Buttler can also be seen playfully chiding Suryavanshi for ‘breaking english hearts' at the U19 World Cup. Suryavanshi smashed 175 off 80 balls in the final against England, the highest score in a U19 World Cup final, also notching up a record tally of 15 sixes in that innings.

The moment also resembles a ‘passing of the torch' with Buttler having represented Royals from 2018-2025, scoring over 3000 runs for the franchise. Buttler also holds the record for the most centuries for RR in IPL history, having scored 7 hundreds.

In the 2022 season, Buttler notched up 863 runs, the highest in a single season by any RR batter, winning the Orange Cap.
