Good Morning!

The GIFT Nifty is trading near 25,364, indicating a positive open for the benchmark Nifty 50. US and European index futures are trading lower during Asian trading hours.

  • S&P 500 futures trade 0.55% higher

  • Euro Stoxx 50 futures trade 1.22% higher

The benchmark indices ended a volatile session in the green, snapping their three-day losing streak. Nifty had risen above the 25,400 levels but closed near 25,300. Intraday, both Nifty and Sensex rose nearly 1%. Nifty ended 0.53% higher at 25,289.9, whereas the Sensex ended 0.49% higher at 82,307.37.

Broader indices, on the other hand, ended in the negative. Nifty Midcap 150 ended 2.49% lower and Nifty Smallcap 250 closed 2.68% lower. Most sectoral indices rose with Nifty Defence and Nifty Media leading the advance, and Nifty Realty was the only sector in red. The market breadth was skewed in the favour of buyers, as 1,268 stocks declined, 2,962 advanced and 162 remained unchanged on the BSE.

US Market Wrap

Emerging-market assets broadly rallied Thursday as traders welcomed signs of easing trade tensions between the US and Europe. Investors are pouring cash into emerging-market funds at a record pace as momentum builds for a rotation out of US assets, weakening the dollar. The dollar held its losses after falling the most in a month during the US session, reports Bloomberg.

Asian equities followed Wall Street higher on Friday after upbeat US economic data and easing geopolitical tensions buoyed investor sentiment. MSCI's regional stocks gauge rose 0.2% after the US benchmarks advanced for a second consecutive day. Japan's Topix rose 0.2, reports Bloomberg.

Commodities Check

Gold prices soared to a record high near $5,000 an ounce, driven by geopolitical tensions and concerns over the Federal Reserve's independence. This rally is fueled by a shift away from currencies and bonds. Gold reached an all-time high above $4,960 in early trading, with a weekly gain of over 7%. Silver also hit a record price, rising 0.7% to $96.91, while platinum and palladium prices increased, reports Bloomberg.
