The GIFT Nifty, an early indicator for the benchmark Nifty 50, is up 0.07% at 24,110 as of 6:12 a.m. Equity-index futures for the US (S&P 500) rose 0.14%, while Europe (Euro Stoxx 50) was down 0.54%.
India Market Recap
Indian equity benchmarks ended higher, snapping a three-session losing streak. The Nifty closed about 0.8% higher for the day, with Sun Pharma emerging as the top gainer on the index, up nearly 7%.
Broader markets outperformed the benchmarks. The Nifty Midcap 150 rose nearly 1.5%, ending a two-day decline, led by gains in M&M Financial Services and NTPC Green. The Nifty Smallcap 250 climbed over 1.75%, also snapping a two-day losing streak, with Cohan Lifesciences up 20%.
US Market Recap
US Indexes S&P500 and Nasdaq Composite surged to new record highs, while gains were limited as Iran peace talks paused and the latest escalation in the Strait of Hormuz drove oil prices higher. S&P 500 was up 0.12% and closed at a record level of 7,173.91 and the Nasdaq Composite added 0.20%, closing at 24,887.10.
Asian Market Update
Asian markets were mixed on Tuesday amid US-Iran conflict uncertainties. Japan's Nikkei 225 dropped 0.49% after touching a record high on Monday and Topix added 0.23%. South Korea's Kospi gained 0.1% while the small-cap Kosdaq fell 0.92%, CNBC reported.
Commodity Check
Oil continued to a gain as traders looked at the next steps of US-Iran negotiations , with the Washington discussing a proposal from Tehran while blockade in the Strait of Hormuz remained. Brent crude was near $108 a barrel after advancing 2.8% on Monday and West Texas Intermediate was more than $96, Bloomberg reported.
