Stock Market News Today: Nifty, Sensex Halt Three-Day Gaining Streak As Losses In HDFC Bank, Infosys Offset Gains In SBI, RIL

• Nifty ended flat today and closed above the 26,950 mark. Broader markets ended mixed.
• Nifty Midcap 150 ended flat, up 0.01% for the day. Nifty Smallcap 250 ended in the green, up over 0.15%.
• Eicher Motors and Apollo Hospitals were the top gainers on the Nifty 50. Eicher Motors rose 6.45%, while Apollo Hospitals gained over 4%.
• TCS and Infosys fell the most on the Nifty 50. TCS declined over 2.5%, while Infosys slipped over 1.5%.
• SJVN and Supreme Industries gained the most on the Nifty Midcap 150. SJVN rose over 7%, while Supreme Industries added over 4%.
• PCBL and KIMS gained the most on the Nifty Smallcap 250. PCBL rose over 8%, while KIMS gained over 5%.
• Sectoral indices ended mixed, with all sectors in the green except Nifty IT. Nifty Auto was the top gainer, up 1.21%, while Nifty IT led losses, down almost 2%. Nifty Energy and Nifty FMCG ended flat.
• Eicher Motors and Bharat Forge led gains in Nifty Auto. Eicher Motors rose over 6%, while Bharat Forge gained over 3.5%.
• Persistent Systems and LTIMindtree led declines in Nifty IT, with both stocks down more than 2.5%.
• Nifty IT snapped a two-day gaining streak. Nifty Auto rose for the second day in a row. Nifty Realty gained for the fourth consecutive session. Nifty Metal and Nifty Oil & Gas ended higher for the fourth straight session. Nifty Financial Services and Nifty FMCG rose for the fourth consecutive session.

The Indian rupee ended 12 paise lower at 90.70 against the US dollar.

LTIMindtree said on Wednesday that its board has approved changing name to LTM Ltd. from LTIMindTree Ltd.

"Securities Transaction Tax (STT) has been increased many times in previous budgets, and this time also it has been increased, specifically with respect to equity futures and equity options... Overall, the government has a perspective as they want to reduce speculations in the market, and this is one of the ways to do so," said NSE Chairman Ashish Kumar Chauhan.

• Aston Deepak Jain, CMD, Lumax Industries, said he is awaiting detailed clarity on the proposed India–US bilateral trade agreement (BTA).
• He said the US has been a surplus market from a components trade perspective and is the second-largest market globally, adding that improved access could open opportunities for Indian auto component suppliers.
• On Lumax specifically, he said the company’s exports are limited, with a domestic focus, but it will evaluate opportunities through partners once the BTA terms are clear.
• He said duties could be staggered, and the company is looking forward to the fine print of the agreement.
• On performance, he said Lumax Industries grew about 20% in Q3 and the group is targeting high-digit growth, with a revenue outlook of 20% .

Edtech firm PhysicsWallah shares fell below the IPO issue price, reversing gains seen after listing. The stock traded at Rs 108.44 on Wednesday, compared with its IPO issue price of Rs 143.10 per share, according to data from the Bombay Stock Exchange.

• InCred added Unit 7 includes 40–50 pending applications, and flagged that a warning letter could defer the US launch pipeline and lead to remediation costs, without stopping existing sales.

Important companies that will announce the results for the third quarter on Feb. 11 include Lenskart, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra & Mahindra, Divi's Laboratories, Bayer CropScience and IRCON International. Some of these companies may also announce dividends. Several of them have also declared the schedule for their earnings call to discuss the results for Q3FY26.

• The Metropolitan Stock Exchange of India said it faces no restriction from SEBI on launching approved products, including equity derivatives.
• It rejected a report that said SEBI had stalled its entry into equity derivatives, calling the account inaccurate and misleading.
