The Indian rupee depreciated against the U.S. dollar on Friday.
The local currency, which opened 4 paise weak at 81.66, strengthened as much as 0.23% to 81.43 against the greenback by afternoon trade. It closed at 81.62 on Thursday.
However, by late trade, the rupee had depreciated marginally to close at 81.68.
The rupee had hit a record low of 83.29 on Oct. 20.
