- Silver fell 7% and gold dropped 9% on Sunday per MCX data
- Silver price collapsed 19% to Rs 3.12 lakh per kg on Saturday in Delhi
- Gold price dipped 2% to Rs 1.65 lakh per 10 grams amid global selloff
Silver dropped 7% while gold dipped 9% on Sunday according to MCX. The prices of the white metal collapsed 19% to Rs 3.12 lakh per kg in the national capital on Saturday, while gold plunged 2% to Rs 1.65 lakh per 10 grams, as investors booked profits amid a global selloff triggered by a stronger US dollar, according to a news report in PTI.
The drop in commodities is attributed to rising geopolitical and economic uncertainty. The dollar index rose 0.9% to close at 97.15 after US President Donald Trump nominated Kevin Warsh, a former Fed governor and known proponent of a strong dollar, to head America's central bank, the Federal Reserve, dented the appeal for the safe-haven assets, analysts told the news agency. The carnage in both silver and gold was even more severe in global markets.
The gold rate in India on Sunday is Rs 1,43,330 per 10 gms while the silver rate is Rs 2,75,260 per 1 kg, according the Bullions website.
