Awarapan 2 vs Batwara 1947 Box Office Day 8: Emraan Hashmi Film Extends Lead Over Sunny Deol Starrer

Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947 entered their second week with a significant difference in their box office performance. While both films saw a drop on Day 8, the Emraan Hashmi starrer continued to maintain a much stronger lead over Sunny Deol's period drama.

Day 8 Box Office Collection

On Day 8, Awarapan 2 collected Rs 5.75 crore net in India from 9,858 shows, with 13% occupancy. Batwara 1947, meanwhile, earned Rs 75 lakh net from 3,211 shows, recording 9% occupancy.

Awarapan 2 saw a 4.2% drop from its previous day's Rs 6 crore collection. Batwara 1947 witnessed a sharper 44.4% decline from Rs 1.35 crore on Day 7.

First Week Collection

After seven days, Awarapan 2 had collected Rs 113.50 crore net in India, while Batwara 1947 stood at Rs 33.60 crore. The difference between the two films was Rs 79.90 crore.

With Day 8 earnings, Awarapan 2 has reached Rs 119.25 crore in India net, while Batwara 1947 has reached Rs 34.35 crore.

Worldwide Collection

The gap continued in worldwide earnings. Awarapan 2 added Rs 1 crore to its overseas gross on Day 8, taking the overseas total to Rs 27.30 crore and worldwide gross to Rs 169.51 crore.

Batwara 1947 collected Rs 50 lakh overseas on Day 8. Its overseas gross total reached Rs 8.25 crore, taking the worldwide collection to Rs 49.02 crore.

Opening Week Performance

The gap was visible from the opening day itself. Awarapan 2 opened with Rs 22 crore, while Batwara 1947 collected Rs 5.75 crore.

Both films recorded higher collections on Saturday, with Awarapan 2 earning Rs 33.75 crore and Batwara 1947 collecting Rs 13.50 crore. On Sunday, the Emraan Hashmi-starrer added Rs 26 crore, compared with Rs 7.25 crore for the Sunny Deol film. Over the first three days, Awarapan 2 collected Rs 81.75 crore, while Batwara 1947 earned Rs 26.50 crore.

Awarapan 2 is directed by Nitin Kakkar and features Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi in key roles. The romantic action drama centres on Shivam, who gets drawn back into the criminal world while facing challenges related to love, redemption and sacrifice.

Meanwhile, Rajkumar Santoshi's Batwara 1947 is a period drama thriller set during the Partition of India. The film stars Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Ali Fazal, Karan Deol and Shabana Azmi and focuses on the struggles of families affected by violence, displacement and loss during the events of 1947.
