A video of a Bengaluru influencer went viral, which sent shockwaves through the viewers when Shriyanshi was suddenly intercepted by an elderly woman who raised concerns about her clothes while she was normally posing for pictures on the street.
The footage that was later removed shows Shriyanshi just standing on the road during the day with her friend in Bengaluru to take pictures and shoot a reel intended for social media. She was wearing a full-sleeved white top and black shorts with long black boots.
According to the video shared on Shriyanshi's Instagram, an elderly woman who was bypassing her, approached and began scolding her for the clothes she was wearing. The woman, seen upset with a furious tone speaking in the local language, continued lecturing the influencer about her attire. In the video, to de-escalate the situation, Shriyanshi was seen trying to calmly relax the elderly with folding hands rather than arguing back. She repeatedly apologises to the elderly woman, and as the video has got more than 1.4 million views, many wrote their views on the incident.
While many Instagrammers criticised the reaction of the elderly woman for unnecessarily moral policing the influencer, others appreciated the girl's response for not engaging in argument and calmly faced the situation, while showing maturity.
The circulated video, now-deleted from the main handle, has once again raised the question: is really the policing needed to the girls in the society? Can an individual's harmless steps disturb someone's life? One person has no freedom, while another enjoys it effortlessly? and still should one decide the basic living for others in our country?
