Water Level In Mumbai Lakes Rises Above 75%, Modak Sagar At 100% Storage Capacity

Modak Sagar, one of the seven major lakes of Mumbai, continues to be at full capacity, while others recorded a surge in water levels, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation data showed on Monday. Modak Sagar, which became the first lake to overflow in the ongoing monsoon season, can hold 1,28,925 million litres of water.

Besides Modak Sagar, Bhatsa, Upper Vaitarna, Tansa, Vihar, Tulsi and Middle Vaitarna are other key reservoirs that serve as a lifeline for Mumbai. Middle Vaitarna is nearing full capacity too, currently holding 93% of its 1,93,530 million litres capacity.
