Vijay's Election Manifesto Out; TVK Promises Rs 2,500 Monthly Sop, Gold Gifts, 6 Free Cylinders And More

Ahead of the April 23 polls, Vijay unveiled a welfare-heavy manifesto targeting women, farmers, students and government employees.

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay on Wednesday released the party's manifesto ahead of the April 23 polls, outlining a wide range of welfare measures and development promises for women, farmers, students, self-help groups and government employees.

Among the key promises for women, the manifesto offers a monthly assistance of Rs 2,500 for those below 60 years of age. It also promises six free cooking gas cylinders per family every year.

For women from economically weaker sections, Vijay pledged marriage assistance that includes 8 grams of gold and a quality silk saree.

In the education sector, the party promised world-class facilities, complete regularisation of land records, and 100% piped drinking water supply.

To address school dropout rates, the manifesto proposes an annual assistance of Rs 15,000 for mothers or guardians of children studying in government and government-aided schools. It also promises higher education loans of up to Rs 20 lakh and the establishment of 100 residential schools named after former Chief Minister K. Kamaraj.

For farmers, the party pledged a complete waiver of agricultural cooperative crop loans for those owning less than five acres of land. The manifesto also promises a minimum support price of Rs 3,500 per quintal for paddy and Rs 4,500 per tonne for sugarcane.

Self-help groups would be eligible for interest-free loans of up to Rs 5 lakh under the proposed plan.

For government employees, Vijay said the party would consider restoring the Old Pension Scheme and regularising contract workers, including nurses.

The Tamil Nadu Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on April 23, 2026. The counting of votes will be done on May 4.
