A man was allegedly assaulted by finance recovery agents in Pune's Hadapsar area during a dispute over unpaid credit card dues, according to local reports. A video of the attack spread online and drew calls for police action.
The incident took place in daylight on Hadapsar Road near 15 Number Chowk. Footage shared on social media shows several men punching and kicking the victim while he lies on the ground.
The case has renewed attention on how debt recovery is carried out and whether collection rules are being followed. The video also raised fresh concerns over the use of force by third-party agents handling customer dues.
What Happened
Reports said the confrontation began when the agents stopped the man and demanded immediate payment. An argument then turned into a physical fight in front of commuters and pedestrians.
Witnesses said the group turned violent during the exchange. In the video, a woman seen with the victim pleads with the attackers to stop.
The clip quickly went viral after being posted online, where users criticised the assault and demanded action.
Rules Ignored
The incident has highlighted complaints around harassment by outside recovery agents hired for debt collection. Banks and financial institutions are required to follow Reserve Bank of India guidelines that bar harassment and physical intimidation during recovery efforts.
Despite those rules, similar complaints continue to surface in different cities.

Police reached the spot after receiving reports of the violence and brought the situation under control, according to reports. The victim and the alleged recovery agents were taken for questioning as the investigation continues.
No official statement has been issued on arrests or the victim's medical condition so far.
