India on Tuesday reacted to reports alleging that China backed Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, asserting that nations claiming to be responsible global powers must seriously introspect on the consequences of supporting efforts aimed at shielding terror infrastructure.

The response came after reports, citing a Chinese official, suggested Beijing had provided on-site technical assistance to Pakistan during the conflict with India following the Pahalgam terror attack last year.

Addressing a media briefing, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the reports reinforced what India had already maintained about external backing received by Pakistan during the confrontation.

“We have seen these reports that corroborate what was known earlier. Operation Sindoor was a precise, targeted and calibrated response to the terrorist attacks in Pahalgam, aimed at destroying state sponsored terrorist infrastructure operating out of Pakistan and at its behest,” Jaiswal said.

He further said countries supporting such actions should weigh the diplomatic implications.

“It is for nations who consider themselves responsible to reflect whether supporting attempts to protect terrorist infrastructure affects their reputation and standing,” he added.

Operation Sindoor was launched after the Pahalgam terror attack triggered a sharp escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan. Between May 7 and May 10, Indian forces carried out targeted strikes on terror-linked infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

India had earlier indicated that Pakistan received operational and technical assistance from China during the conflict, particularly in surveillance, air defence coordination and military logistics.
