Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Managing Director, Ashwini Bhide, issued a clarification on Tuesday on reports of plastic sheets and tarpaulin being used at entry and exit points of metro stations on the Mumbai Metro 3 line. This is part of usual practice followed at sites under construction sites, she said.

This clarification comes after Midday reported on how plastic sheets and tarpaulin had been used over entry and exit points of metro stations on the line as a monsoon fix. This report came after some underground stations saw flooding during heavy rains on May 26.

"Some entry exits of @MumbaiMetro3 which are under construction are covered with rainproof material as part of the usual practice being followed by under construction sites during monsoon season of Mumbai so that the construction activity safely continues even during rains," Bhide wrote on her X profile.
