Mumbai: Seven Dead, 40 Injured As BEST Bus Hits Pedestrians, Vehicles After Brake Failure

Seven people were killed and 40 were injured after a state-run bus rammed into vehicles in Mumbai's Kurla (West) on Monday due to brake failure, NDTV reported.

The Mumbai's civic transport body 'BEST' bus rammed into pedestrians as well as vehicles on Monday night, police and municipal corporation officials said.

It is suspected the accident near the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation L Ward in Kurla took place due to a brake failure, they said, adding the bus driver has been detained.

The civic body BEST has also changed some of its routes following the accident.

BEST Bus Changes Routes

The post reads, "Due to last night's accident at Kurla Buddha Colony, the police Go. The closure of the Barve (Kurla station) route reflected bus routes 37,320,319,325,330,332 E, broken at Kurla Agar as well as bus routes 310,311,313,318 E taking a U-turn at Tilak Nagar (without going to Kurla station."
