The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wedneday issued warning for heavy rains in parts of several states including Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana.

Central, western, and southern states including Maharashtra, Telangana, and Karnataka face scattered thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and isolated rainfall over the next several days.

Weather Forecast in Maharashtra

IMD expects isolated light-to-moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching 30-50 kmph (gusting to 60 kmph) over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada during 1-4 April.

Thundersqualls accompanied by strong winds are likely to affect parts of Maharashtra over the next two days. Wind speeds of 50–60 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 70 kmph, are expected over Madhya Maharashtra on April 2 and 3.

Similar weather conditions are also forecast for Marathwada during the same period

Isolated hailstorm activity threatens Madhya Maharashtra through 3 April and Marathwada on 3 April.

Maximum temperatures may rise by 2-3°C on 1 April before gradually falling by 2-4°C through 7 April.

Telangana faces isolated light-to-moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph) over the next five days. No significant temperature changes are forecast, maintaining current patterns.

The region recorded gusty winds in the past 24 hours, indicating active weather systems.

While not specifically highlighted for hailstorms, Telangana falls under the broader South Peninsular India wet spell affecting Coastal Andhra Pradesh-Yanam, Interior Karnataka, and neighbouring areas.

Isolated light-to-moderate rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds (30-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph) is forecast over Interior Karnataka during the next five days, Coastal Karnataka through 3 April, and Kerala-Mahe on 3-5 April.

North Interior Karnataka faces hailstorm risk on 4-5 April, while South Interior Karnataka sees hail on 5 April.

Shivamogga district recorded 7 cm heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours. No significant temperature changes are expected.
