The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued an update about a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal turning into a depression in the next 24 hours.

“Yesterday's low-pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast became well marked at 0000 UTC and persisted over the same region at 0300 UTC of today, May 28. It is likely to move slowly northwards and concentrate into a depression over the North Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours,” the IMD said in its latest release on tropical cyclones.
