If China Can Use Robots, Why Can't We? Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw Seeks Tech Use To Collect Garbage, Discipline Traffic

The Bengaluru-based Indian billionaire has time and again drawn parallels with her experiences in China to push for cleaner Indian cities.

Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw once again hit out at the unclean state of cities in India and questioned why technology is not being used to keep them clean, just like China does. 

"What use is tech talent without civic sense? Can't we use technology to keep our city clean, to discipline our traffic and improve infrastructure?" she said in a post on social media platform X on Wednesday.

She went on to compare China's use of robots to collect garbage, clean sewers and control traffic offenders, and urged Indian techies to "rise to the challenge" of accomplishing the same feat.

"If China can use robots to collect garbage, clean sewers n control traffic offenders, why can't we? Come on techies rise to the challenge - waste to wealth n to a clean and green city," Mazumdar-Shaw remarked.

In another post on X approximately four months ago, she had tagged Karnataka's CM and deputy CM and questioned why India could not "get its act together" like China. 

"I had an overseas business visitor to Biocon Park who said ‘ Why are the roads so bad and why is there so much garbage around? Doesn't the Govt want to support investment? I have just come from China and cant understand why India can't get its act together especially when the winds are favourable?" the post stated.

The Biocon founder has been quite vocal about her inhibitions regarding India's cleanliness, calling her own city 'filthy'.
