Hilsa Assembly Election Result 2025: JD(U)'s Krishna Murari Sharan Defeats RJD's Shakti Singh Yadav

Krishna Murari Sharan, the candidate from Janata Dal (United), received 95,521 votes through EVMs and 488 postal votes, totalling 96,009 votes. He secured 49.73% of the total votes in the election.

JDU's Krishna Murari Sharan defeated RJD's Atri Muni Urf Shakti Singh Yadav by a margin of 16,012 votes.

JD(U)'s Krishna Murari Sharan is leading in Hilsa constituency at 3:20 p.m. with 57,381 votes, while RJD's Atri Muni, urf Shakti Singh Yadav (53,105) votes and Umesh Kumar Verma (2,658) from Jan Suraaj Party are trailing behind.

For the first time, the Bihar assembly polls this time saw no voting day deaths and no re-polling being ordered in any constituency. In the past assembly polls, the state witnessed violence, deaths, and re-election.

• In the 1985 elections, 63 deaths were reported, and re-polling was ordered in 156 booths, the data showed.

• During the 1990 elections, 87 people died in poll-related violence.

• In 1995, then Chief Election Commissioner T N Seshan ordered the postponement of the Bihar elections four times due to unprecedented violence and electoral malpractices.

• In 2005, re-polling was held in 660 booths due to violence and malpractices, according to the data.

• The counting of votes for this year's two-phase assembly polls is underway in Bihar.

JD(U)'s Krishna Murari Sharan is leading in Hilsa constituency at 2:00 pm with 51,246 votes, while RJD's Atri Muni, urf Shakti Singh Yadav (46,473 votes and Umesh Kumar Verma (2,377) from Jan Suraaj Party are trailing behind.

Demographically, Hilsa has a mix of Kurmi, Yadav, EBC, and Muslim voters, mirroring larger Nalanda caste equations. It comprises Hilsa, Karai Parsurai, Tharthari and Parbalpur blocks, with agriculture, local markets and small brick-kilns dominating livelihoods.

Historically, JD/JD(U) and RJD have shared the seat over the last several decades, with JD family winning more often overall.

RJD's Atri Muni, urf Shakti Singh Yadav, is leading in Hilsa constituency at 12:52 pm with 32,459 votes, while JD(U)'s Krishna Murari Sharan, Sukesh Kumar (Independent), Umesh Kumar Verma from Jan Suraaj Party are trailing behind.

NDA leads in 161 seats, surpassing the majority mark of 122, in early trends as counting progresses for Bihar polls as per trends from Election Commission

The ruling NDA was ahead in 47 assembly seats, while the opposition INDIA bloc was leading in 14 constituencies, according to trends available on the Election Commission's website at 9.45 am. The BJP was leading in 25 seats, the JD(U) in 16, and LJP (Ram Vilas) in five. The RJD was leading in 10 seats and the Congress in three.

The BJP, a constituent of the ruling NDA in Bihar, was leading in eight assembly seats as compared to two of the opposition RJD and two of the Congress. JD(U) were leading in four seats and LJPRV were leading in three, according to trends available on the Election Commission's website at 9.18 am.

As per the early trends, NDA leads on 93 seats; Mahagathbandhan on 63. Figures as of 9:04 am.
