Caught On Camera: Elephant Attacks Car In Munnar, Lucky Escape For Family

A tense situation was reported from Kerala's Munnar after a wild elephant attacked a car in the Vaguvarai area on Sunday night, leaving the passengers inside frightened, Deccan Herald reported. 

Citing eyewitnesses, the report highlighted that the elephant, identified as “Padayappa,” suddenly came onto the road and charged towards the vehicle. The unexpected encounter caused panic among those travelling on the route, as the animal moved aggressively close to the car.

The situation became more serious when the tusker approached the vehicle, leaving those inside with limited options to escape. The passengers remained inside as the elephant continued to behave aggressively.

However, the driver managed to remain calm during the incident. He repeatedly used the horn to distract the elephant. After a brief pause from the animal, the driver accelerated the vehicle and managed to move away from the spot safely.

The incident also reportedly led to temporary disruption on the road, as other motorists slowed down and bystanders attempted to drive the elephant away by honking. No injuries or casualties were reported.

Earlier, on February 27, a 43-year-old man was killed in a separate wild elephant attack at Aralam farm in Kannur district of Kerala. The deceased, identified as Aneesh, was a resident of the tenth block of the Aralam farm settlement area.

The incident took place around 4 am when the elephant reportedly charged at him while he was standing in the courtyard of his house. He sustained fatal injuries in the attack.

According to local residents, the elephant had come near the house to feed on jackfruits from a tree. Aneesh and his wife came out after hearing the disturbance. While his wife managed to return inside safely, Aneesh, who worked as a rubber tapper, was attacked and trampled when the elephant suddenly charged at him.
