Bengaluru's Namma Metro To Start Early Operations This Sunday; Here's Why

Metro services will begin at 5.00 am instead of the regular 7.00 am, according to an announcement from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation.

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced early morning operations of Namma Metro on Sunday, March 1, to support public travel for the Karnataka State Level Police Run event scheduled in the city on the same day.

According to the announcement, metro services will begin at 5.00 am instead of the regular 7.00 am. Early services will operate from all terminal stations across all lines.

On the Purple Line, trains will start from Whitefield and Challaghatta. On the Green Line, services will begin from Madavara and Silk Institute. On the Yellow Line, metro services will operate from Bommasandra and RV Road.

The early metro operations are being arranged to facilitate commuters travelling to take part in the Karnataka State Level Police Run, which is scheduled to be held on Sunday in Bengaluru.

What is Karnataka State Level Police Run event ? 

The Karnataka State Level Police Run is being organised by the Karnataka State Police in collaboration with State Bank of India (SBI), Bengaluru Circle. The event marks the third edition of the Karnataka State Police (KSP) Run and is scheduled for March 1, reported The Hindu

The run was first launched in 2024 to mark 50 years of the Karnataka State Police.

This year's edition is being organised with the theme “Namma Police Namma Hemme” (Our Police, Our Pride) and is intended to recognise the commitment and service of the police force in protecting the state.

The organisers expect participation from more than 10,000 people from different age groups. The event will feature two categories. The Timed 10K Run is meant for experienced and professional runners, while the Awareness 5K Run is open to the general public with the aim of promoting fitness and community participation.

Both the 10K and 5K runs will begin and end at Vidhana Soudha, with the route passing through Cubbon Park.
