Vodafone Idea Ltd. has secured Rs 6,400 crore in funding, including warrants and fund- and non-fund-based facilities, as the telecom operator kicks off its planned Rs 45,000 crore three-year capital expenditure programme.
The company said it has already placed capex orders worth Rs 9,000 crore and remains engaged with lenders to close its overall funding plan.
"During the quarter, we have secured funding of Rs. 6,400 Cr including warrants, fund & non-fund based facilities and remain engaged with lenders to close the overall funding plan. We have placed capex orders worth Rs. 9,000 Cr out of our 3-year capex guidance of Rs. 45,000 Cr," Vi said in a statement.

The funding and capex push comes as Vi reported a stronger operating performance in the first quarter of FY27. Revenue rose 6% YoY to Rs 11,689 crore, while EBITDA increased 9.1% YoY to Rs 5,034 crore. EBITDA margin stood at 43.1%, up 122 basis points from a year earlier.
Vi CEO Abhijit Kishore described FY27 as the year of execution, saying the company's Q1 performance validated its strategy and execution.
"Our 5G is now live in over 200 cities. Our on-ground execution intensity continues with capex orders worth Rs. 9,000 Crore already placed. The ongoing conversation with the lenders gives us the confidence of successful closure of debt discussions," Kishore said.
Vi's subscriber base stood at 193.1 million at the end of June, up from 192.8 million in the previous quarter, marking its first quarter of net subscriber addition since the merger. Its 4G/5G subscriber base rose to 130.1 million from 127.4 million a year earlier.

Customer ARPU increased 10.2% YoY to Rs 195, while data usage rose 27.9% YoY to 88.4 petabytes a day. The company said 4G population coverage had reached 87% as of June, with 5G services available across more than 200 cities.
Despite the operational improvement, Vi reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 3,754 crore for the quarter. Its net worth stood at negative Rs 38,327 crore as of June 30, 2026.
The company said its immediate focus remains on network expansion, execution and AI-led transformation, with the Rs 45,000 crore capex programme expected to support its 4G and 5G rollout.
