- Lerodalcibep is a monthly injectable PCSK9 inhibitor for lowering LDL cholesterol
- The drug received EU approval for adults with certain hypercholesterolaemia conditions
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries has secured exclusive rights to commercialise and manufacture lerodalcibep across markets outside the US and China, strengthening its presence in cardiovascular medicines and expanding its global innovative drugs portfolio.
The agreement with LIB Therapeutics covers a monthly injectable PCSK9 inhibitor that lowers LDL cholesterol, as per the exchange filings.
Under the deal, Sun Pharma will have exclusive rights in the licensed territories, while LIB Therapeutics will receive upfront and milestone payments along with royalties linked to net sales. Other financial terms were not disclosed.
The partnership comes shortly after lerodalcibep received European Union approval on September 21 under the brand name Lyrokaul.
The medicine is designed for adults with primary hypercholesterolaemia, including heterozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia and mixed dyslipidaemia.
Sun Pharma will also take responsibility for seeking regulatory approvals in territories where the drug has not yet been cleared. The agreement does not cover the US and China, including mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

$3.7 Billion PCSK9 Market In Focus
The deal gives Sun Pharma access to a PCSK9 inhibitor market worth $3.7 billion outside the US and China during the 12 months ended Q2 2026, based on IQVIA data cited by the company.
The market expanded at a 38% compound annual growth rate over the previous two years.
Europe accounted for $2.9 billion of that market during the period, while the global PCSK9 segment is expected to approach $7 billion in 2026.
Lerodalcibep is already approved in the US as Lerochol. It is a 300 mg/1.2 mL subcutaneous injection administered once a month.
In Europe, the treatment can be used with statins or other lipid-lowering therapies when LDL cholesterol goals are not achieved, and in certain patients who cannot tolerate statins.
Sun Pharma highlighted the drug's monthly dosing and its ability to remain at temperatures up to 25°C for six months after removal from refrigeration in Europe.
