Ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal-led Krutrim launched its Android app at a developer conference in Bengaluru on Saturday. Aggarwal also announced plans to roll out an iOS app and a Python software development kit tool for developers.
The launch took place at DevSparks 2024, where Krutrim was unveiled as an open cloud AI platform. Additionally, Krutrim opened its cloud platform, Krutrim Cloud, to enterprises, researchers, and developers at costs claimed to be a fraction of current expenses.
According to a statement, the Krutrim Cloud platform provides access to state-of-the-art AI computing infrastructure, Krutrim's foundational models, and open-source models. It also offers foundational location services APIs and SDKs to build innovative localised mapping solutions.
At its launch in December 2023, Krutrim was inaugurated as a full-stack platform involved in building AI chips, a family of large language models, and a user-facing app.
Aggarwal highlighted Krutrim's strong connection to Indian values and data, supporting over 10 Indian languages and providing assistance in English, Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Gujarati, and even 'Hinglish.'
In January, Krutrim achieved unicorn status after raising $50 million at a $1 billion valuation, led by prominent investors including Matrix Partners India.
