The cargo complexes in the northeast region out of the five regions of the Indian airports recorded a 67% year-on-year growth in October, the Airports Authority of India said on Monday.
The northeast region handled 3,822.3 tonnes of cargo in October in comparison to 2,285.3 tonnes in the same month last year, the AAI posted on X.
The total number of cargo managed across the five regions of Indian airports reported a significant growth, according to the AAI. "This reflects their vital role in driving trade and contributing to the nation's economic growth."

December 16, 2024AdvertisementIn October, airports in the eastern region experienced a 9.9% increase in cargo handling, managing 19,593 tonnes as compared to 17,834.9 tonnes in the same month the previous year.
The western region witnessed a 12% rise in cargo handling in October 2024 at 96,876.9 tonnes in comparison to 86,189.8 tonnes in October 2023.
AdvertisementIn October, the airport in the northern region managed 1,09,444.6 tonnes of cargo, a 15% rise as compared to 95,451.2 tonnes in the same period last year.
The southern region handled 1.05 lakh tonnes of cargo, a 16% surge as against 90,137.1 tonnes managed in October last year.
