In a bid to facilitate the process of submitting a life certificate or Jeevan Praman for pensioners, the State Bank of India has started the new Video Life Certificate (VLC) service. The feature allows pensioners to submit their life certificates through a video call with an SBI official.Â
Central government pensioners are required to submit their life certificates to the Pension Disbursing Agency (PDA) every year to keep drawing their pension. The certificate is important as a proof of existence of the pensioner.
Through the new Video Life Certificate (VLC) service, anyone whose pension is processed and paid through the bank can submit their life certificate via a video call on the SBI app or website, without having to visit the branch.

Step 1: Visit SBI's official PensionSeva website or download the PensionSeva mobile application.
Step 2: On the website, click on the ‘VideoLC' link at the top of the webpage. In the application, select ‘Video Life Certificate' option from the landing page.
Step 3: Enter the account number in which you receive your pension. Then enter the captcha and check the box to authorise the bank to use your Aadhaar details.
AdvertisementStep 4: Click on the ‘Validate Account' button after which an OTP will be sent to your Aadhaar card-linked mobile number.
Step 5: Submit the required certificates and click on proceed.
Step 6: On the new page, follow the instructions to schedule an appointment for a video call as per your convenience. A confirmation will be sent to you through SMS and email.
Step 7: Join the video call as per the schedule after giving your consent. Â
Step 8: You will be required to read out a verification code in the call with the bank official and also show your PAN card.
Step 9: After verification, hold the camera steady to let the bank official capture your face.
Step 10: A message at the end of the session will confirm that your information has been recorded. Pensioners will be intimated about the status of the Video Life Certificate through SMS.
